District releases traffic plan for new school year

The Adair County school district has released a traffic plan outlining student pickup and drop-off routes at Adair County High School and the new Adair County Middle School as the district prepares for the start of the school year on Aug. 24.
Superintendent Jason Faulkner said the construction project for the new middle school is moving along well and no further delays are expected.
A staff opening day was held Monday with employees spending part of the day at the new facility.
Traffic Plan
Both student drop-off and pickup areas will be located behind the gymnasium at each school. Signage will be placed throughout the campuses to help direct parents and other motorists.
Parents are encouraged to plan their routes in advance and avoid Indian Drive when possible and use the Veterans’ Memorial Bypass when exiting the school campuses to help reduce congestion.
Anthony Darnell, director of transportation, said the traffic plan is subject to change as the district evaluates traffic flow during the first days of school.
“We simply ask that parents remain patient,” Darnell said.
The beginning of the school year typically brings heavier traffic volumes on campus as parent drop-offs and pickups increase.
Parents are encouraged to review the traffic visual provided by the school district before arriving on campus and to follow posted signage and directions from school personnel.
