Jackie Davis Stinson, 86, of the Portland community, died Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at his home.
He was born February 1, 1940, in Adair County to the late Will and Gracie Compton Stinson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Cecil Stinson and one sister, Opal Stone.
Jackie attended Pickett’s Chapel Church, a U.S. Army Veteran and retired from Gates Rubber in Elizabethtown after 36 years of employment.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 59 years, Dorothy Burris Stinson of Portland; one son, Ronald Stinson (Bridget) of Cane Valley; one daughter, Melinda Willis (Leslie) of Portland; two sisters, Frances Janes of Milltown and Elizabeth Curry of Elizabethtown; five grandchildren, Dustin Willis, Shaun Willis, Nathaniel Grant (Amber), Bonnie Hausdorfer (Zach), and Tasha Lane (A.J.); six great-grandchildren, Aubrey Willis, Zoey Grant, Alex Grant, Dixon Cary, Aiden Hausdorfer and Hadlee Hausdorfer; special grandchildren, Scott, Tiffany and Rue, Samantha and Cody; seven nephews; and one special niece, Lorie.
Funeral services were held October 4, 2026, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home.
Bro. Darrell Coffey and Bro. Pat Smith officiated.
Burial in Tarter’s Chapel Cemetery with full military honors presented by V.F.W. Post 6097.
Casket bearers were Terry Furkin, Nate Grant, Ethan Kean, Lewis Smith, Andy Byrd and Jimmy Murphy.
Grissom-Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
