Emergency services are still on the scene on Chestnut Grove Road where one person is possibly dead and a male shooter remains barricaded in the residence.

The Community Voice has also learned that at least two other people were allegedly killed by the shooter prior to going to the residence where he is currently located. Names are not being released at this time but those two victims are relatives of the shooter.

Law enforcement free several officers who were pinned down because of shots being fired from the house within range of where they staged when they first arrived. A Special Response Team is now on the scene.

Law enforcement is on the scene of a standoff on Chestnut Grove Road after a report of a male shooting another man and dragging him into the house.  He has since fired shots at law enforcement.

Early reports indicated the male and the victim were on the porch after the shooting. At some point the shooter entered the woods and came back without the firearm, which has been described as a AR type rifle. He dragged the victim from the yard into the house.  The incident was reported by someone who has access to security cameras at the premises.

From inside the house, the shooter shot toward law enforcement on at least two occasions.  Nobody has been injured.

Roadways are closed and area houses have been evacuated. Several agencies are still responding to the scene, with the report that a special SWAT unit is on the way. Drones are being used in the area and the shooter has reportedly shot down one drone.

The Adair County Sheriff's Office, Columbia Police, Kentucky State Police and Emergency Management are on the scene, and EMS and several air medical crews have been called to station nearby. Other agencies are bringing in more drones and offering services as needed.

Everyone is urged to avoid the area. Emergency personnel need to be able to move quickly as needed and do not need to be concerned about people in their way. The road is a small county road and any unneseccary traffic will be considered a hindrance to law enforcement.
