The 7U Indians battled through the elimination bracket to capture the Kentucky Little League District 5 championship on June 28.
The Indians opened tournament play with a first-round victory over Washington County before falling to Marion County in their second game. They rebounded by eliminating Washington County in the loser’s bracket to earn a rematch with Marion County in the championship round.
The team defeated Marion County in back-to-back games to claim the district title.
The Indians dominated throughout the tournament, winning every game by the run rule and never playing more than five innings in a scheduled six-inning game.
The coaches praised the team’s performance, noting the players overcame extreme heat and adversity while playing their best baseball in a high-pressure environment.
The Indians will advance to the Kentucky Little League State Tournament this weekend. The team will open state tournament play against South Oldham on Saturday afternoon at Lake Reba Park in Richmond.
