Last Thursday, the Adair County Middle School Indians football team traveled to Green County for the final conference game of the regular season.
The Tribe came out victorious with a 26-24 nail-biter.
Joshua Baker made a significant impact on the field, carrying the ball a total of 16 times with 177 yards and scoring three touchdowns.
With Baker leading the way on the ground, it opened up first down conversions and a 20 yard passing score from Fischer Brown to Daniel Held.
Defensively, the Indians were led by a host of tacklers: Easton McGee, Josh Baker, Janson Clemmons, Daniel Held and Truth Macklin fought for victory.
The Indians faced off again Tuesday at home against Green County in the first round of playoffs
Head Coach Jason Blackaby said keeping the team motivated is essential to winning.
“Just reminding of the longevity of the work that we put in, the off season program last November. And so, you know, it’s just the work that they put in, they don’t want to let it go to waste,” Blackaby said.
Many players played a role in the close win by the Indians in a final score of 24-20.
Blackaby credits Joshua Baker, Daniel Held, and Ficsher Brown for the effort they exert any time they have the ball.
Baker is especially spotlighted for a last-second touchdown, taking the Indians to victory.
With a few standout players, Blackaby said this was also a team effort for a game of such importance.
“Everybody, everybody just stood out tonight,” Blackaby said.
The Indians will travel to Campbellsville Oct. 15 to determine the champion.
