Adair County splits series of games ahead of Campbellsville rematch

Adair County split its last four games, picking up two wins before dropping back-to-back contests early this week.
The Indians opened the stretch with a 16-13 win over Clinton County on Thursday, April 16. Bryce Russell highlighted the offensive surge with his second grand slam of the season, a third inning shot to center field that drove in four runs. Adair County finished with 15 hits.
Both teams scored once in the first inning before Clinton County took a 2-1 lead in the second. The Indians responded with a six-run third inning to go up 7-2. Clinton County rallied to tie the game in the fourth, but Adair answered with three more runs to regain control and secure the win.
Adair followed with a 2-1 victory over Russell County on Friday in a tightly contested matchup. Jasper Kemp recorded all 21 outs for the Indians, while Jackson Sinclair accounted for both runs at the plate and earned the win on the mound, pitching 6 2/3 innings. Sinclair also scored the game’s first run in the fifth inning.
The Indians dropped a rematch at Clinton County on Monday, 11-2. Adair scored in the first inning, and Sinclair added another run with a sacrifice bunt in the third, but Clinton County pulled away.
On Tuesday, Adair fell 10-0 at Campbellsville. Campbellsville took an early lead with a two-run home run in the first inning and never trailed. Jay Harmon, Russell and Carson Darnell each recorded a hit for the Indians, who also turned a double play.
Adair County is scheduled to host Campbellsville in a rematch at 5 p.m. tonight.
