The Adair County High School cheerleaders competed last weekend in the Apex cheerleading competition in Sevierville, Tenn. The squad won their division and overall grand champion for the competition.
Under the leadership of Head Coach Julie McQueary, the squad has excelled. In the high school game day division, the team scored 93.13 with zero deductions beating the runner up by almost 3 points.
At the end of the ceremony, the Adair County team was named the overall grand champions with the highest score of all the teams that competed in the event.
“The team was met with a few struggles that day. One girl was extremely sick, but managed to push through the competition,” said McQueary.
“The weekend was a lot of fun and team represented Adair County well,” she said. “We are so proud of these girls. They have worked hard to build a name for themselves the past couple of years and to be a team that makes the fans of Adair County proud.”
Each member of the team was presented with a jacket for winning their division and a ring for winning grand champions. The Adair County Cheer Team brought home two new banners to hang in the gym showcasing their accomplishments.
