Emergency services rushed to the scene of a two-vehicle accident last Thursday after a report that the driver of one of the vehicles was entrapped and the vehicle was on fire.
Emergency 911 received a call at 10:06 a.m. on Nov. 7 that a wreck had occurred at 6829 Campbellsville Rd. and one of the two vehicles was on fire.
Other travelers came to the aid of the driver who was entrapped and were able to rescue him from his vehicle just before the truck went up in flames.
Emergency personnel arrived on the scene and provided further aid.
Kentucky State Police has not issued an official release, but the Community Voice has learned that the accident occurred after the driver of a work truck struck a dump truck that was stalled and partially in the roadway.
Jason Stotts, the driver of the work truck, was injured by the fire and taken by Adair EMS to TJ Health Columbia.
Jessy McQueary, 39, of Columbia, was outside the dump truck attempting to repair the vehicle when the impact took place and received a minor injury.
McQueary was later arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of illegal substance, 1st degree; trafficking in a controlled substance, methamphetamine; and possession of drug paraphernalia. His CDL license was suspended.
KSP Trooper Carl Roark is listed as the complaining witness on the arrest citation.
Trooper Austin Mattingly conducted a standardized field sobriety test on the scene, and a search warrant was issued for a blood test.
KSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement officials were also on the scene. Others on the scene included the Adair County Sheriff’s Office, Adair County EMS, Adair County Fire Department and the Columbia City Police.
