New Kentucky voter identification requirements took effect July 15.
Kentucky voters must present an acceptable photo identification to cast a ballot which is now limited to a U.S. passport, Kentucky driver’s license, Kentucky state ID, U.S. passport, military I.D., college I.D. issued by a Kentucky Institution, or other government issued photo I.D.
Social security cards and food assistance cards will no longer be accepted for identification.
In addition, election officers may no longer personally confirm a voter’s identity.
The online mail-in absentee ballot request portal is open at vote.ky.gov or ballots may be requested by calling the Adair County Clerk’s office. The deadline is Tuesday, Oct. 20.
Completed absentee ballots may be mailed or placed in the ballot drop box at the clerk’s office.
Excused in-person absentee voting will be available from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21 through Friday, Oct. 23 and Monday, Oct. 26 through Wednesday, Oct. 28 at the clerk’s office. Voters must qualify for excused absentee voting and present valid identification.
Any registered Adair County voter may vote early without an excuse from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29 through Saturday, Oct. 31 at the Adair County courthouse annex basement.
There will be no voting on Monday, Nov. 2.
Voters who have not cast a ballot before Election Day may vote at their assigned precinct on Tuesday, Nov. 3 from 6 a.m until 6 p.m.
