Kentucky Proud Expo invites public to shop, sample, and support local Sept. 12 at Scott County orchard

The Kentucky Department of Agriculture’s Kentucky Proud program invites the public to enjoy the best local food, drink, and gifts together under one roof.

From 3-6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, the Kentucky Proud Expo will transform The Venue at Evans Orchard & Cider Mill near Georgetown into a marketplace celebrating Kentucky’s most innovative and delicious products. Kentucky Agriculture Commissioner Jonathan Shell is scheduled to attend and will be available for interviews.

Visitors can explore booths, sample products, and purchase directly from more than 40 Kentucky Proud vendors. Unique products on display will include non-melting chocolate superfood snacks and vegan jerky made from mushrooms, shrubs (drinking vinegars), bitters, brine mixes, and frozen sweet corn. Also available will be perennial favorites such as coffee, teas, sauces, jams, spices, and candles.

Kentucky Proud is the official marketing program of the Kentucky Department of Agriculture, representing nearly 6,000 farm and artisanal businesses statewide. With 87-percent brand recognition among Kentucky shoppers, the program connects consumers to fresh, local products while strengthening Kentucky’s economy.
