The Adair County Middle School Indians basketball teams picked up six wins in two home matchups against Lebanon and Cumberland County, with the sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade teams winning both nights.
On October 23, the eighth-grade Indians defeated Lebanon 45-20, led by Eli Cochran’s 13 points. The seventh-grade team won 34-27 behind Cason Burton’s 15 points, while the sixth-grade team earned a 37-21 victory with fifth-grader Oliver Feese leading the way with nine points.
The Indians continued their strong play on Monday against Cumberland County. The eighth-grade team won 64-31, the seventh-grade team claimed a 53-20 victory and the sixth-grade team finished with a 38-17 win.
Head coach Christopher Moses pointed to strong defense as a key part of the teams’ success. Against Cumberland County, the sixth-grade Indians held their opponent to fewer than 10 points in every quarter.
Coach Moses said the seventh-grade team’s defensive skills were an essential part to their victory.
The eighth-grade team also showed its depth, with 12 of its 14 players scoring in the win over Cumberland County. Jack Bowman led the team with 11 points.
The Indians will continue to build on their strong start as the middle school basketball season continues.
They travel to Casey County on Monday, and will return to the home court Wednesday to play Campbellsville.
Games will begin at 5 p.m.
