Adair County High School volleyball coach Michelle Neat has been named Region 5 Coach of the Year by the Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association, recognizing her work and leadership with the Lady Indians.
The honor highlights Neat’s impact on the program and the effort she has put into helping her players grow as athletes and teammates throughout the season.
The Lady Indians competed in the district finals last Thursday, falling to Taylor County 3-1. Despite the loss, several players earned recognition for their performances and hard work during the season.
Maxie Blakey earned All Academic Team honors.
Blakey, Josie Blair, Olivia Mantooth and Josie Cox were named to the All Season Team, while Blair, Mantooth and Cox earned All Tournament Team honors.
Neat praised the players for earning the recognition while emphasizing the importance of the entire team’s support.
“They worked hard to earn that recognition, but it wouldn’t be possible without their teammates, too,” Neat said. “When one of us wins, we all win”
Her approach reflects a focus on teamwork and putting the group ahead of individual success.
Neat has continued to encourage her players to support one another and work together, even when facing challenges on the court.
The Lady Indians returned to action Tuesday against Elizabethtown, falling in three sets. However, the team’s individual honors and Neat’s coaching recognition offer reasons to be proud of the work put in throughout the season.
Neat’s Region 5 Coach of the Year award is a meaningful achievement for both her and the Adair County volleyball program as they look ahead to future seasons.
