Robert Lewis Smothers, 66, of Campbellsville, son of the late Murrell Smothers and Hallie Russell Smothers Despain, was born in Campbellsville on April 20, 1958 and departed this life on Sunday, September 29, 2024 at his residence.
He professed faith in Christ and was of the Christian faith. He was formerly employed as a grave digger until becoming disabled.
He is survived by his wife Patty Smothers of Campbellsville; two children, a daughter, Latonya Schneider and husband John and a son Shannon Caldwell all of Columbia; three grandchildren, Corey Caldwell, Cheyenne Atwood, and Tyler Atwood; four great-grandchildren, Riley Simmons, Kinsley Atwood, Kayden Atwood, and Colton Atwood; one brother and three sisters, Gary Smothers (Vicki) of Russell Springs, Judy Smothers of Glasgow, Pat Dial (Roy) of Glasgow and Jenna Fay Bottoms (Larry) of Summersville.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Danny Smothers.
The funeral for Robert Lewis Smothers will be Friday, October 4, 2024 at 1 p.m. ET at L.R. Petty Funeral Home with Bro. Freddy Thompson officiating and burial in the Caldwell Chapel Cemetery.
The family has requested visitation on Friday, October 4, 2024 at 11 a.m. ET until time for the service.
