Columbia Mayor Pamela Hoots has proclaimed October 2026 as National Long-Term Care Residents’ Rights Month.

According to the proclamation, approximately 1.2 million people live in 14,700 nursing homes, while more than 1 million people live in 32,200 assisted living and residential care facilities across the United States.

This year’s theme, “Join Us at the Table,” highlights the role food, community and shared mealtimes play in the lives of long-term care residents.

Representatives from Signature HealthCARE at Summit Manor and the Lake Cumberland Area Development District attended the proclamation.
