Adair County Sheriff Deputy Emily Wall completed a basic leadership course at Camp Shelby in Mississippi.
Wall has been with the National Guard for six years and has earned the rank of sergeant.
Wall is a military police officer and was required to take this 22-day course by the National Guard. The course taught her how to guide and mentor, train efficiently, and how to teach the tactics of the job.
Wall said this course will also be beneficial in her role as a deputy sheriff. It included a public speaking course and how to prepare and present safety briefs before and after training events.
Wall, who is the first female deputy sheriff, has been with the department for three years.
“I want to congratulate Emily on her accomplishment. I am thankful for her service to our county, state and country,” said Sheriff Gary Roy.
