William Chatman “Billy” Willis, 92, of Columbia passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at his residence. He was born on January 15, 1933, in Columbia to the late Henry Chatman and Trevor Ellen Murrell Willis.
Mr. Willis was a member of Columbia United Methodist Church for 80 years and a farmer in Adair County. He enjoyed playing the guitar and mandolin, listening to bluegrass music, and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife Bessie Imogene Combest Willis of Columbia; two children William Murrell Willis of Columbia and Sherry Cowherd (David) of Campbellsville; three grandchildren Carrie Gupton (Joe), Jessie Brockman, and Rebekah Renner (Isaac) and five great grandchildren Ella Gupton, Margaret “Maggie” Gupton, James Gupton, Theodore Brockman, and Simon Brockman.
Funeral service was at 2:00pm Sunday, August 17, 2025, at the Columbia United Methodist Church. Burial in the Haven Hill Cemetery.
Bro. Ryan Boatwright officiated and pallbearers were Steve Young, Jimmy Combest, Todd Rogers, Mike McKinney, David Willis, and Wayne Logsdon.
