Cheerleading Team ready for the season

Adair County High School cheerleading team is focusing on rebuilding this year. The team lost 10 seniors and six others students chose not to participate this year.
“We are rebuilding and doing great things,” said Head Coach Julie McQueary. “These girls have hit the mat running.”
The team has practiced all summer working on fine tuning their skills. They recently went through an intense four day routine camp to begin preparing for competition season.
“With football season a little over a week away, they’ve been working on sideline cheers and band dances along with practic-ing their routine,” said McQueary.
Cheerleading is much more than cheering at a ballgame. The team practices several times a week and has a gymnastics class every week. There is not much down time through the year from one season to the next.
The team will hit the mat November 1 for their first competition at the KHSAA regionals with many other competitions through the end of February. There is also a group that plans to compete in individual stunt group competitions this season.
“We are looking forward to the season and seeing what all this team accomplishes. We think that people will be very impressed with what they see’” said McQueary.
