The Adair County track and field team opened its indoor season last weekend by competing in its first meet of the year. Turning in a strong performance highlighted by multiple personal bests, school records and a meet age-group record.
Several relay teams set new program marks. The girls 4 x 800-meter relay placed third and established a new school record, while the boys 4 x 800-meter relay finished 11th with a school-record performance. Both the girls and boys 4 x 400-meter relay teams also posted new school records.
In individual events, Brianna Hillock placed sixth in the 3,200-meter run, setting a new school record. Cadence Booth recorded a new meet record in the 3,200-meter run for the 14-year-old age group. Luke Albrektson set new school records in both the 1,600-meter and 3,200-meter runs.
The meet marked a successful start to the indoor season for Adair County, with athletes delivering record-setting performances across multiple events.
“It was a historic weekend for our track and field program. Seeing so many personal records fall at our very first indoor meet was incredible, but the real victory is the dedication behind those numbers,” said Coach Bill Hillock.
On behalf of the entire coaching staff and school system, I want to say how deeply proud we are. These athletes balance the rigors of the classroom with the grit of the track, striving daily to be better versions of themselves,” he said. “Their commitment is infectious, and it serves as a constant reminder of what is possible when you show up and put in the work.”
