Lady Indians’ Golf Finds Momentum Heading into September

The Adair County girls’ golf team has been building momentum with several solid finishes as the team heads into September and closer to the regional tournament.
The Lady Indians finished sixth at the Barren County Lady Trojanette Invitational on August 22.
The team started strong but ultimately fell short.
“We started off playing well, but we just didn’t finish when it mattered,” Coach Ashley Goodin said.
Adair County had a chance to finish third, and several teams that finished ahead of the Lady Indians were teams Adair County had already beaten earlier in the season.
Taylor County won the tournament with a 309, followed by Bowling Green with a 324.
Ila Loy tied for fifth individually.
The Lady Indians traveled to Peninsula in Lancaster the next day and finished fourth with a score of 3:53.
The course will also host the team’s regional tournament later in September.
“Out of the teams there from our region, we would have been third,” Coach Goodin said.
On Aug. 25, Adair County hosted a match that included its junior varsity, middle school and elementary school girls.
The Lady Indians shot a 228 to beat Clinton County’s 234.
Adysen Wooley also tied her personal best in the match.
The team continued its busy schedule Aug. 29 at Crosswinds in Bowling Green for a semi-state preview hosted by Bowling Green. Adair County finished third with a score of 345.
Ava Loy shot a personal-best 119.
Adair County will host its first home tournament on Saturday. The tournament will be the team’s final opportunity to earn All-State points.
As of last week, the Lady Indians were ranked Number 12 out of 192 teams.
With the regional tournament approaching, Adair County will look to keep improving and finish the season strong. The Lady Indians will have several more chances to prepare for the postseason. The high school varsity team will face Washington tonight.
