The Adair County Lady Indians put together a strong performance Wednesday at the girls golf semi-state tournament in Bardstown at Maywood country club, representing three of 79 total golfers competing.
Competing for Adair County were Ila Loy, Ashley Loy and Laney Inchcliff, who each battled through a challenging course with a chance to advance to the KHSAA State Golf Championship.
Coach Ashley Goodin said the team was proud to be able to represent Adair County, bringing three individuals from a region of such skilled golfers.
“Our region is very tough, we’re all top teams in the state, and all in the same region,” Goodin said.
Ila Loy led the way for the Lady Indians, hitting a 77 to finish sixth overall and earn an individual qualifying spot for the state championship.
Her performance secured her place among Kentucky’s top golfers as she will compete next weekend at Bowling Green Country Club.
Ashley Loy also delivered a strong round, finishing with an 80 and tying for 15th place overall.
After her round, Ashley entered a three-way playoff for the final qualifying position.
She battled through two playoff holes before narrowly missing out on a trip to the state championship.
“A tough way to end a great day, but we couldn’t be more proud of the fight she showed,” Goodin said.
Laney Inchcliff rounded out Adair County’s competitors with an 87, continuing to gain valuable postseason experience while competing on a big stage.
Although the Lady Indians’ team season came to an end in Bardstown, Adair County left the tournament with plenty to celebrate.
Ila’s advancement gives the program representation at the state championship, while Ashley and Laney’s performances showcased the continued growth of Lady Indians golf.
Next weekend, Loy will take on the best golfers in the state when she competes at Bowling Green Country Club in the KHSAA State Golf Championship.
