The Adair County Lady Indians volleyball team celebrated five seniors last Thursday night while continuing to build momentum as the postseason approaches.
Olivia Mantooth, Maxie Blakey, Lilly Myers, Kylianne Akin and Anika Jennings were honored during the team’s annual Senior Night before taking the home court together for the final time against Wayne County.
The Lady Indians earned a decisive victory, giving the seniors a memorable finish to their regular-season home game.
“We appreciate all they have given to ACVB and look forward to more special moments with them as we head into the post-season soon,” coach Michelle Neat said.
The team carried that momentum into the weekend, facing two quality opponents in Corbin, including the host school and Ashland Blazer, a team ranked in the Top 25.
Adair County came away with a win over Ashland Blazer, a program the Lady Indians have battled in previous seasons.
Neat said the victory was a complete team effort, with every player contributing in her role.
“It truly was a complete game by every player. Each person stepped up and filled their role to contribute to our team win,” Neat said.
With the postseason only two weeks away, Neat said the team’s performance was an example of the style of play the Lady Indians are looking to carry into the postseason.
“This is exactly the way we want to be playing with the post-season approaching in two weeks,” Neat said.
On Monday night, the Lady Indians hosted Pulaski County and despite a rough beginning, the team fought and won the match.
“Despite a rocky start on some aspects of the game, our girls fought through those mistakes and were able to come out on top,” Neat said.
Tuesday, the girls traveled to Bardstown and won 3-0.
“We were able to continue our winning streak and close out our fall break with some good volleyball,” Neat said.
Coach Neat says they plan to take fall break slow to prepare for the remainder of the season.
“The plan now is to take a few days to slow down, rest, recover, and come back ready to make a strong run to finish the season and begin post season play,” she said.
The Lady Indians will travel to Warren East on Tuesday.
